Considering the bucks, time, blood, sweat,
and tears that went into this tuner;
This is without a doubt the best tuner in
the world.
The top link is in the tuner in it's case and the
rest are the guts
As seen on Tuner 1 and Tuner 2 links, the capacitor on the rear is quite large. When I
ordered it, I really didn't notice the size. My first thought was how I was going to put
that thing inside the cabinet. I did like you do when you have more children than your house
will hold. You put on another room, as I did in the Tuner 7 link.
The remote antenna switch was another project. Those vacuum relays can handle the current
and provide excellent isolation. When the controller is turned off, every antenna is
automatically grounded.
Now I'm ready for winter of 2005 and 160 meters. Need 40 more
for DXCC and Alaska for WAS on that band
Mid 2006 update: The tuner proved itself to be a success on 160M, as well as other bands. Alaska was worked and
confirmed on 160. As for 160M DXCC, the total is now 88 worked and 84 confirmed. I'm really proud to have
worked VQ9 and Peter I on 160. Now I'm looking forward to the winter of 2006 & some serious Top Band Dxing. :-))
Mid 2007 update: The winter season has past and the 160M totals are now 102 worked and 101 confirmed. That's enough
for 160M DXCC, but not a reason to quit working that band. It's an obsession, so I'll be back next season trying to
work more countries. See ya in the pileups.
